At the cove, hear about its history, view dock remnants, and note creatures that swim, fly and feed at the shore. Also learn about channel makers. If boat traffic and wind are light, cross the inlet to the Old Field peninsula or paddle into the Sound. Unload at the end of Surf Avenue (138 Surf Ave. Pass Way or 101 E. Broadway). The entrance to Surf Ave. is next to the big red community center at 101 East Main Street (a.k.a. E. Broadway). Restrooms in the community center - leave at least 8 minutes more if you need them. You may have to park in a paid space which will take about 5 minutes more time. Personal floatation device must be worn. Bring a beverage and sun protection. Wind over 12 mph, gusts over 15 mph or rain cancel.
